Shepherd Purple Heart Ocean Row |
|
The Shepherd Purple Heart Ocean Row 2009 is about "Challenging the Extreme" – attempting a solo unsupported row across the Atlantic ocean from west to east. It will encompass extreme physical and mental exertion, unflagging endurance and, last but not least, a taste for adventure. Ex-military man John Mollison and his back-up team intend to raise support and awareness for the British Ex Service Men’s Association - BLESMA - at a time when the long-established charity faces challenges of their own. John, who lost a leg when a mine exploded two days after the end of hostilities in the Falklands, is determined to become the first amputee to row the Atlantic west to east. Just one Briton has successfully completed a solo – but supported - crossing of this great ocean from west to east. In 2005, spirited adventurer Olly Hicks was at sea for 124 days. Ocean rowing is a challenge which continues to capture the imagination of the general public and the media alike. For John, it will be a test of physical and mental endurance. For those who choose to involve themselves with the Shepherd Purple Heart Ocean Row, it is an exciting, matchless opportunity to demonstrate your company’s ideals of ambition, teamwork and success. This business plan focuses on a wide range of opportunities for sponsors to come on board as John attempts to cross one of the world’s great oceans by rowing boat. |
